Social Media CV

This week we were given an assignment to complete an online social media CV at a web site called VisualCV. I'd like to take a second to say that this assignment and web site are both an incredibly amazing idea.

For us people who are in broadcast media, it is very hard to showcase your work to potential employers. I think in our field, anyone can look good on paper, but until you actually see someones work, one person could look as good as the next. This web site allows you to post a portfolio full of work. Everything from graphics, to audio, to video; and it presents it in a very professional format.

The only other "real" class I'm taking this quarter is Interviewing, and it's funny because the day we were assigned this project, we were talking about how unless you're really good at what you do, there is no need for a CV. I politely disagreed and said that some types of work (my own for example) takes a different method of showing it off, and a CV is just what you need, but an electronic CV at that.

This assignment popped up just at the right time, and I intend to use it in the future. Everyone who is in some form of interactive media should have one of these. No question.
