When twitter first released itself to the world, I think a lot people questioned its purpose. It took the status update of Facebook and made a whole web site about it. But since then, it has taken off into something a lot bigger than I believe anyone ever thought it would. What is the point of a status update only web site? Who knows, but I have one and today one of the top-trending items on the million+ member user database web site is ❒Single ❒Taken.
Yep, maybe we finally hit the moment where Twitter is going to start turning into a place to find dates. Could you imagine another cheesy profile/dating site? One that only offers status updates? No thanks, not for me. With about 40 tweets per minute with the trending topic somewhere in the worlds updates, it sits at number three in the top trending topics.
I guess I find this more amusing than anything. Can you imagine some of the things people would base their potential partners off of? Purely on a picture and 140 characters of text, you'd have to figure out everything. I can only imagine some of the stories now. As I sit here watching it update, majority of the people are single. Let's just hope that Twitter doesn't start getting any wise ideas because of its trending topics, and sticks to what it was designed for. Short, quick, simple updates. Haha!
Oh man, that's just what we need, another dating website. I am not a part of Twitter, but I know I will be soon. But, that's not really what I want to talk about.
ReplyDeleteI'm sick of all these dating websites! Seriously, get off your butt and go out and find someone on your own! I saw on a commercial that 1 in 5 relationships come from dating websites now. That's absolutely insane. Why!? What happened to getting out of the house, getting dressed up, and going to the bar and meeting someone. Now, people can be lazy as ever, and sit in front of their computer for 12+ hours a day, and still "find true love," except that that love will probably end before you can make three clicks away.
Ok, I'm going to stop there. I could go on, but these are supposed to be professional blogs, not blathering blogs.
